Recently the ICC announced the fixtures for the men’s and women’s T20 World Cup 2020 tournament. And with this announcement, it was sure that this tournament will reach new heights in terms of hype and records.
Speaking of men’s T20 World Cup 2020, top 8 teams are qualified automatically in the tournament. And for the men’s T20 World Cup 2020, these teams are Pakistan, India, England, Australia, South Africa, New, Zealand, West Indies, and Afghanistan. On the other hand, Sri Lanka and Bangladesh will play with other teams for qualifiers. It was shocking to see these teams play in the qualifiers. After all, the “fittest one survives” rule also applies here.

The qualifiers of the T20 World Cup 2020 will take place this year. The ICC T20 World Cup 2019 Qualifier is an upcoming cricket event and will be conducted in the United Arab Emirates in October 2019 and November 2019. This qualifiers tournament is played to decide which teams will get a chance to play in the ICC T20 World Cup 2020 tournament, which is being scheduled to be conducted in Australia.
Qualification teams started in Argentina on February 26, 2018, with a sum of 61 teams for Associate Member out of initially projected 62 teams vying against each other. Out of these 63 teams, 25 of them in 2019 advanced to the regional finals, with the leading 7 teams advancing to the qualifier event. In addition to this, these 7 teams will be joined by the leading 6 teams from the qualifier conducted in 2015. These 6 teams are outside the leading 10 spots in the ICC T20I Championship.
In February last year, both Bermuda and the Cayman islands registered a victory against Argentina in the Americas group in the opening round of sub-regional qualifiers. In the same way, in April 2018, ICC gave full global status to men’s T20 matches played from January 1, 2019, onwards between member sides. Hence, all the matches in the Qualifier itself and the Regional Finals will be played as complete T20 Internationals.
Teams that have the chance to play alongside Sri Lanka and Bangladesh for qualifiers are Scotland, Zimbabwe, UAE, Netherlands, Hong Kong, Oman, Ireland, and Nepal. The fixtures and the schedule for the men’s T20 World Cup 2020 will start from October 18, 2020, and end on October 23, 2020. And it is for sure that Sri Lanka and Bangladesh will be playing the qualifiers. As far as the question remains for the rest of the team, only time will tell as to which teams will be qualified for the qualifiers.
